RARE Scholars: Empowering Students Living With Rare Disease
Applications open each year on Rare Disease Day in late February. The program distributes up to $20,000 annually for use during the following fall semester, awarding $5,000 for undergraduate four-year or graduate studies or $2,500 for two-year or vocational-technical studies.
Applicants must be high school seniors, graduates or current postsecondary or graduate level students diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), phenylketonuria (PKU) or Batten disease. Treatment status (including past, present or future status) has no bearing on applicant eligibility and will not be considered as part of the application.
